HISTORY/DESCRIPTION.
For sale is this stunning, rare 1961 right-hand-drive 190SL. First registered in Trinidad and Tobago until 1965. It then came back to the UK. It has only had four previous owners. It was in storage for a long period, and during its life it has been worked on by most of the London specialists. This model, being a hardtop and soft top option, is very rare to find, especially in a right-hand-drive model with matching numbers. Only recently has the car been stripped and repainted with a colour change in Spain by a restorer. All Chrome replaced, new carpets, Engine cleaned and checked. New Engine mountings, gearbox mountings, belts, bushes, tyres, and new rear lamp lenses. The Panel gaps are correct, and a lovely level of paintwork matches a New black Soft Top. The History File is outstanding, covering invoices, old MOTs, bills, dating back to the very early days of returning to the UK in 1965. All paperwork is in date order and over three inches thick.
WHY BUY.
Try to find an RHD hardtop and soft top matching number example in this condition and at a price that is sensible compared to fully restored examples on sale. Only a handful are left now in RHD with hardtops. It still retains its original Solex carburettors, which have been rebuilt. It starts and runs very well, and was recently displayed at the Salon Privé Concours De Vente Lawns at Blenheim Palace. Call Bruce for full details.
