1971 MERCEDES-BENZ C111 280 SE 3.5

HISTORY/DESCRIPTION

On sale with Bruce Greetham is this lovely original RHD 280 SE 3.5 V8. This is the one to have if you want a C111 coupe. During a period in early 1998, the Coupe went to Wales for a full restoration for many years, where it was stripped, panelled, and colour changed from Red Metallic 571 to Silver Grey 180.  The metal code plates still show the 571 code.  A huge History file showing over £60,000 of work carried out with the same company.  The Engine number is unable to read to confirm. The History file is very comprehensive throughout the 1990s to 2000s, with lots of healthy bills and receipts to show all work.  An electronic ignition system was fitted for an instant start from hot and cold, which can be difficult on these early Bosch Injection systems.

The Coupe drives without any issues, changes gear nicely and maintains a good level of speed. It was driven up London without fault.

WHY BUY.

Trying to find an RHD 3.5 Coupe is not an easy task, as there are not many left with the 3.5 variant. The Road presence of the stacked front headlights alongside the look of the pillarless windows is pure class on wheels. The look, the open space and the sound of the Bubble from the V8 is what this car is all about.
