1989 F MERCEDES-BENZ R107 300 SL

HISTORY/DESCRIPTION.

Welcome to one of, if not the very best, R107 300 SL available today. Finished in Original Signal Red paintwork, which is the deepest shine. A virtually unmarked interior in Cream Leather with matching Rear seat option, this exceptional SL is simply a delight to be around and a testament to the care and dedication of its owner during his ten years of custodianship.

He has dedicated much of his recent life to this SL in the Concours field and has achieved a Master Class Award in addition to Best in Show, Best Convertible, and the SL John Woodruff Trophy.

I have personally driven this car and can only describe it as close to a perfection of an R107 300SL as you are ever likely to find. The level of detail is remarkable, particularly in all the places that you need to look when you know the R107, such as the door hinges, door locks, seat anchor fixings,boot well and boot hinges. The spare wheel has never been dismounted from its home, with mounting card and factory markings dots, and the Tool Roll is still in its original plastic bag and sealed; you don't see that very often. The engine and engine bay are a masterpiece, with original grey paint on the exhaust manifold, fresh plastic bottles for the header tank and washer bottle, and all the correct factory decals and painted markers in the right places.

The Soft Top has been replaced with a genuine Mercedes part and fits like a glove without a single crease, and the underside of the car is undoubtedly better than when it was new, showing all painted bands, springs, and bolts.

The car’s history file includes three binders detailing all the work carried out over the years with invoices and receipts, older Tax Discs and MOT Certificates and its V5C. The 2nd owner in the logbook never took delivery of the car and decided to spend his money on his property atthe time, so, effectively, it’s a two-owner car, but the V5 does list three.

As you can see from our images, the car has acquired a substantial quantity of Silverware; however, it is regularly enjoyed on the open road (weather permitting) as, after all, that’s what it’s made for.
