HISTORY.
On sale today from Bruce Greetham Classic Benz is a beautiful, trademark R107 300 SL, painted in the iconic Signal Red paintwork. The matching hardtop has been carefully packed away and has never been used since the current owner took possession five years ago. The car started life with a long-term owner and wife in the same family for many years, with a file full of bills and receipts covering all aspects of the work from 1991. The recent owner has only ever enjoyed this very fine example in fine weather and always safely covered away in his heated garage alongside his other classics. Shows, events, and anniversaries of the model show it was cherished under his ownership.
It is in remarkable condition and has a mileage of just 45'000 miles. The general condition of this example is presented very well all around, with an engine bay that looks fresh, honest, and with no signs of leaks and many new parts evidenced by recent servicing. Over £3000 has been invested in the car since the five-year ownership period to ensure it is always on the key, waiting to go. The car was stripped down underneath of all plastic arch liners to apply a full underbody waxoyl. There is zero rust underneath, and this goes for the bulkhead chamber also. All wheels are refurbished, and tyres are all correct and fresh. The spare wheel is still the original alongside the toolkit in its plastic bag. The data card label is still hiding under the jack support cap, which displays that this car has never had any leaks to the boot carpet or welding work. The History file is very comprehensive, showing all bills, receipts, with the manual. The spare keys and fobs for the immobilizer are all safe in the file. The black soft top is the original, showing MB logos on the rear and side plastic windows, so all very original.
ON THE ROAD.
During the test drive, I experienced nothing but delight and confidence. A flick of the key to start and a selection of the gears showed this model has been cared for. The engine pulled like a 300 SL without any hesitation, combined with a beautiful, smooth gear change. Direct positive steering and brakes that pull up on a sixpence. This SL gives great pleasure when driving and confidence to anyone who is looking for a low-mileage, very genuine R107 300 SL.
WHY BUY.
The question why wouldn't you, once you step inside the cabin and see the plush wood trim, you can imagine yourself cruising the Cotswolds or the south of France, roof down, knowing you are in a well-sorted and immaculately presented 300 SL. Bruce at Classic Benz has crawled all over it and given it the BG sign off of approval. Come along and see for yourself how nice this example is to not only look at but to drive; they have to go together.
