HISTORY.
On sale today is a beautiful RHD 280 SL W113 Pagoda in matching number format. Painted in a gorgeous metallic Red that you don't see very often, combined with a matching hardtop which was factory Black from birth. This W113 has been through a full Nut and Bolt restoration over four years ago, and is now going through a full shake-down process for sale. Every aspect of this 280SL was restored to what you see is a master piece today. It was restored by a Birmingham Restoration company for a private art collector in London, which was then put straight into his collection without turning a wheel for over four years.
Bruce Greetham was contacted to recommission this beauty for sale. During the preperation process the car has undergone a full BG Vehicle Health Check and outlined the niggles these Pagodas can hide if not road tested after such a intensive restoration. All fluids replaced, door locks adjusted, four-wheel alignment, and a new cold start device. The gearbox pressures were adjusted to ensure a slick gearbox change. The power steering box has been stripped and fully overhauled in-house due to a leak. The test miles continue to ensure the next new owner drives away with a piece of mind it's right.
A UK-registered car with little history before the restoration, but fully documented throughout its work with all stages on a memory stick to evidence the work carried out. The paintwork is beautiful and completely unmarked, with no blemishes. The soft top still wears its protective cover on the rear window since fitment. All controls are correct and in full working order. New seat belts will be fitted in black of the inertia type and chrome buckles as part of the completion and sign of the period.
WHY BUY.
There are many beautiful pagodas for sale, but metallic Red is probably the only 280 SL in this colour for sale. It looks so much more expensive in this dark shade, which lifts the chrome so much, combined with a Germanic Black leather interior. If you are in the market for a 280 SL RHD Automatic and, of course, in full matching numbers, then this could be one that sticks out from the others. The owner now would like to sell and is prepared to see his lifelong dream of a motorcar be enjoyed by someone who will use it.
